This is what it takes

Dear ...

If you can see youself as you are now, you need to first understand that you will never be good enough. We are our own harshest critics. Perfection is impossible, but you can touch the tip of what is perceived to be perfection. It’s going to get a lot harder before it gets better. You are going to get knocked down over time and time again. Other people will love to see you fall.

Then let them see you fall.
Let them see you cry.
Let them see you broken.

Because no matter what, giving up is not an option. It will never be an option. It’s out of the question.

You are going to take this pain as a lesson to be remembered. Use it to its fullest; channel the raw feelings into the images in your mind. Having a fear of disappointment, of failing, of trying so hard to do something but continuously falling flat on your face, those are all okay. This is all part of the road we have to take. In order to inspire a new movement, you don’t need a lot of people.

Whoever thought that only a small handful of people could change anything?
But it’s the only thing that ever has.

When it seems as if it’s just getting too hard, like you’re being shoved from all sides at the same time, tell yourself:
There is only one thing I have to do, and that’s trust myself.

The simplest things are the often the hardest. Finding the faith, trust and courage to believe is honestly frightening. It means you have to look into who you are, dig deep inside of yourself and sort out everything; look back on all the bad things that have happened while going through the good. It takes strength to be able to do that. But the thing is, all you really need are just a handful of people instead of half the world. If in that handful each person truly believed in what could happen, then that’s it.

You’ve got it.

Taking each frustration into count when you can’t move past that one point and you’re simply stuck, all there is to it is to listen. You listen to what the music tells you to do. It is that easy. But it doesn’t come right way, you have to work at it day by day fine tuning your craft. It’s like a language only a certain number of us can decipher. And like a language, it takes time to fully learn how to apply it.

Don’t worry about what you can and cannot do. Know who you are. Know yourself in and out and believe for all you’re worth. The difference between us and them, is that we carry inside us something that sparks. You can challenge what others just accept. Ask those questions in your head, never settle for what anyone thinks is right. Who really knows what is right anyway?

Find your most deepest fear and reflect on it. You have every reason to be scared because a dream like this doesn’t come easy. It starts now, by you making your payment in sweat. Talent takes you there but skill keeps you there. And skill is only achieved through hours and hours of devotion to your craft. This isn’t a step off the sidewalk for us. It’s a lifestyle.

Keep your heart and head in check; swallow that fear you hide and take a leap out. You don’t know what you’re capable of.
You may not see it yet, but it’s there.
It’s always been right there with you all along.
So give it something back because it’s been the one constant thing in your life that has never, and will never change.
Do it for you, and you’d be surprised at how far you went.
